Warorot Market

Known locally as Kad Luang ("the great market"), Warorot sits in a covered building near the Ping River and has been Chiang Mai's main trading market for generations. The ground floor deals in produce, dried spices and textiles; the upper floor turns into a food court by late afternoon, with vendors serving khao man gai, boat noodles, deep-fried morning glory and sai oua — the region's distinctive herb-packed pork sausage. It's a working market first, tourist stop second, which keeps prices and portions honest.
