About
Founded in 1830 by Andrea Pansa and still run by the same family five generations later, this pastry shop sits on Piazza Duomo in the heart of Amalfi, beside the cathedral steps. In 2001 it was formally recognised as one of Italy's Locali Storici (historic businesses). It is known for pastries built around the Amalfi Coast's own sfusato lemons -- delizia al limone, candied lemon and orange peel, and sfogliatelle -- served with espresso at small marble-top tables. It has been a fixture of the square for nearly two centuries, a stop for locals as much as for visitors climbing the Duomo steps.
