Aktaion Taverna

Aktaion opened in 1922 in the square of Firostefani, when the village was still a settlement of fishermen and farmers rather than a tourist stop, and has stayed in the same Roussos family for three generations since. The taverna serves old-school Santorini dishes -- stuffed vine leaves, zucchini rolls, caper-spiked pasta -- largely unchanged from the recipes of founder Lefteris Roussos. Its terrace overlooks the caldera, but the kitchen and pricing still reflect a neighbourhood taverna rather than a resort restaurant.
