About

Tokyo's wholesale fish auctions moved to Toyosu in 2018, but Tsukiji's outer market — the warren of narrow lanes around the old site — kept its several hundred shops and stalls, and remains the city's best-known destination for a street-level seafood breakfast. Expect tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) sold off a skewer, fresh uni and otoro at standing counters, and grilled scallops eaten on the move. It's busiest, and freshest, in the early morning.
