Tiger Cave Temple Viewpoint

Founded in 1975 after a monk reported seeing tiger paw prints in a nearby cave, Wat Tham Sua sits a few kilometres northeast of Krabi Town. Its viewpoint tops a staircase of around 1,237 steps cut into a limestone karst, ending at a golden seated Buddha statue and small shrine on a narrow rock platform. From the top the view stretches over the surrounding karst peaks, forest canopy and, on a clear day, the Andaman coastline in the distance. The climb is steep and mostly unshaded, so an early morning start is best.
