An actual 2nd-century-BC Egyptian temple, gifted to Spain in 1968 for its role in saving the Nubian monuments from flooding, Debod was rebuilt stone by stone on the Cuartel de la Montaña hill west of Plaza de España. Its reflecting pools and the elevated gardens around it look out over Casa de Campo park toward the Sierra de Guadarrama, and the site is best known as Madrid's most popular spot to watch the sun go down behind the hills.
