Sunday Walking Street (Thanon Ratchadamnoen)

Every Sunday evening, Ratchadamnoen Road through Chiang Mai's Old City closes to traffic and fills with several kilometres of stalls, running past temple courtyards that double as extra food courts. Expect fresh-pressed sugarcane juice, grilled pork skewers, mango sticky rice, grilled corn and kanom bueang (Thai crispy crepes) alongside handicrafts. It draws heavy crowds after dark — arriving by early evening makes both the food stalls and the walking itself considerably easier.
