About
Designed by architect Giuseppe Valadier and completed in 1816, the Terrazza del Pincio sits at the edge of the Villa Borghese gardens, directly above Piazza del Popolo. The wide paved overlook, lined with stone busts of Italian historical figures and flanked by umbrella pines, gives a clear view over the piazza's obelisk and twin churches toward St Peter's Basilica and Castel Sant'Angelo across the Tiber. It's a short, gentle walk up from Piazza del Popolo or reachable through Villa Borghese, and is popular at sunset, when the terrace fills with a mix of tourists and locals.
