About

Perched on one of Lisbon's seven hills in the Graça neighbourhood, this is widely rated the city's highest and widest viewpoint. From the terrace beside the small 18th-century Nossa Senhora do Monte chapel, the view sweeps over the red rooftops of Alfama and Mouraria down to São Jorge Castle, the Baixa grid and the Tagus estuary beyond. It draws fewer tour groups than the crowded miradouros of Alfama and is popular with residents at sunset, with an east-west orientation that works for both sunrise and sunset light.
