Metropol Parasol

Known locally as Las Setas (the mushrooms), this 2011 timber lattice structure by architect Jürgen Mayer spans Plaza de la Encarnación and was, at the time of construction, claimed as the largest wooden structure in the world. Roman and Moorish remains uncovered during the build now sit in a small museum underneath. A lift and a 250-metre undulating walkway cross the rooftop, giving a rare elevated view over Seville's old quarter: the Cathedral, the Giralda, and, on a clear day, the Sierra Norte, best around sunset.
