About
Every Sunday morning, stalls line the Quai des Chartrons along the Garonne in Bordeaux's old wine-merchant district, one of the city's most popular open-air food markets. Oyster shuckers work alongside cheese, fish and produce stalls from around 7am to 1pm, with food trucks and a handful of restaurants staying open later; a smaller Thursday market on the same quay focuses on organic produce and flowers. Arrive before midday for a seat at one of the outdoor oyster-and-wine counters overlooking the river.
